Hello all. My husband is in the Army. We recently found out we will be pcsing to Schofield Barracks. I heard that you can go on the waiting list for housing through any of the branches on the island. Does anyone know if that's true? Any recommendations as to which housing is the best? My husband graduates from AIT in about 2 weeks and yes, we are still waiting on official orders. I am learning already the military moves to the own beat of their drum. Does anyone know how the job market currently is, I am hoping to find one as soon as we receive our second vehicle.
I am very excited,as I have never been to Hawaii. Does anyone suggest any "must see" places? I am hoping we will have a few days of exploring before my husband has to report for duty!

We are stationed at schofield barracks and love it. However jobs are scarce. I worked for aafes at the px for awhile as that was the only job I could find that didnt require me to drive to honolulu. If you want to work on post I recommend applying now as it is a long process!! You can call housing and they will help you get everything started! just go to armyhawaiifamilyhousing.com and that shows you pics and gives you all sorts of info! for jobs go to the aafes website i think or google aafes jobs and it will take you to the site where you can apply and they call u in like a few months. good luck! let me know if u have anyother questions!
