We require the use of an email address issued by your ISP- We screen users using yahoo, msn, or gmail, and hotmail- if it is not a standard ISP email address- we request a referral from one of our members to vouch for validity. When you apply, we will request an ISP email address from you before validating. I agree to... 1. Respect other member's feelings, beliefs, and opinions. I will not name call, degrade, attack or do anything to make another person feel bad. Just because you feel the need to be an open and honest person does not give you leeway to say whatever crosses your mind to anyone. If you feel so strongly about a subject or person, please address this in private, but remember you are to adhere to the rules about respect in PMs also, so PMing a member to talk to them is at your own risk. If the member feels like you are attacking them, they have every right to report you. This is not the place to judge people based on the way they chose to live their lives. Whether you don't agree with their politics, child raising habits, money spending habits or anything of that nature doesn't give you the right to speak your mind or force your beliefs on them. 2. This is a message board on the internet that allows a certain amount of privacy to our outside lives. Anything that happens in someone's personal life that they don't feel the need to share with teh board stays OFF the board. This should not give you the right to attack them based off of their personal lives that you shouldn't even know about unless that person told you. 3. If you get told a "rumor" and want to find out the truth behind it, please PM a mod or an admin. Please be advised that you will be asked for all people involved or you will not be heard. We can't do anything about gossip or rumors if we don't even know where to start in the process of getting it out in the open or dispelled. 4. If I feel that someone has disrespected me and has broken rule #1, I agree to contact the moderator of the board (or the person in question themselves) via PM and resolve the issue privately. If you do pm or email, you must save it so that if the issue can't be resolved privately that the messages will be forwarded to the moderators so they may have a honest portrayal of the problem and discussion between the 2 parties. 5. I understand that HMW feels that it is necessary to follow the OPSEC rules set forth by the Department of Defense. I have read and understand the OPSEC rules and agree to follow them for my own safety. 6. I understand that if I break OPSEC guidelines on the boards, my post may be edited. I further understand that OPSEC is everyone's responsibility, and that if I disregard my safety while posting then HMW cannot be held responsible for any damage that ensues. 7. I agree not to practice "shameless promotion" on the boards. Advertisements for competing sites are never allowed. Once I have more than 200 posts and have been a member for 2 months I understand that I may use the mall.Once I have more than 200 posts and have been a member for 2 months and pay to become Business Ohana I may solicit in my signature with a one line text (described on board) and in the business forum only. If I am unsure about my advertisement being allowed on the board, I agree to contact an Admin for clearance prior to posting it. I understand that my advertisement or link can be deleted if deemed inappropriate. [Note: quick links cannot be used to advertise competing sites.] 8. I understand that the mods and admins are people and that they sometimes make mistakes, but I agree to treat them with the same respect and consideration that I would for any member of this board. 9. I acknowledge that HMW artwork and content is property of the owner and cannot be taken from the site without express permission. All of the content on HMW is written/created for or by HMW, or published with permission. Any member found to be violating our copyright will be banned without exception or argument. 10. I agree to respect the copyrights of others. My signature, avatar and other artwork I place on HMW will be posted with permission from the author. HMW is not responsible for copyright infringement committed by me. 11. "Hyper Linking" is not allowed on HMW unless I have permission from the site owner. All images I post here should be hosted by a free hosting service or my own hosting service. Hyper linking infringes on the rights of other webmasters and is considered stealing. HMW can remove posts that are hyper links without warning. 12. This board is for all military branches. None are considered better than another and branch and rank wars will not be tolerated. This includes respecting Reserves/Nat'l. Guard and Officers or Enlisted by treating them as equals. 13. HMW, it's moderators, administrators and owner reserves the right to change these rules at any time. If I conduct myself poorly I can be banned or have my membership revoked even if what I'm doing does not "technically" break the rules but does cross the line of tolerance with the staff or with the community. 14. This is an active community and I wish to be an active participant in it. I understand that the administration periodically deletes members that have not been active in 1 month or more. If I happen to be deleted I understand that I AM allowed to re-register, but I will not get my previous post number or status, etc, back- unless you were Ohana-- I start out as a new member again. 15. I understand that sometimes a topic can get out of hand and I know that when this happens the topic may be closed at the moderator/admins discretion. If a topic is closed or deleted, it becomes a private matter. If I take issue with the mod/admins actions, I will contact her privately about it. Under no circumstances will I post a new thread with the same or simillar subject, nor will I post a threat debating about the reason for topic closure or bringing into question the admins/mods abilities. 16. I understand that HMW does have members who are using slow connections, or have low resolution screens. Out of respect for those members, I agree to keep my signature image reasonably sized. If my signature distorts the flow of a page, has slow loading time, or is larger than the leadership team deems appropriate, I know that my sig may be edited without warning. 17. I agree to keep all problems & fights with other internet forums on those forums. Anyone who brings issues from other websites onto HMW will receive a warning or have their membership revoked immediately. What is says on this board, stays on this board. Any conversations, discussion, news etc, will not be shared with any outside members due to privacy and security. If I feel that there is a matter than needs immediate attention for safety of a fellow member I will contact the Admin or Moderators and leave them to handle the situation. 18. One of our requirements here is for 3 pieces of identifiable information in your profile, and a photograph. If a moderator pm's you, and you refuse this request without good reason, you will be removed from this board. After your pm, you have 7 days to fulfill the requirement. This is especially true if you have used a yahoo or hotmail or gmail account to register- it leads to a lack of credibility. If you do not have access to a photo, please let us know. The best identifiable option is an official military email address (us.army.mil etc) which all family members can get just by going and registering for one (ex: AKO). We ask this for our security. If you do not have access to a photo, and have no referrer, we may ask for more proof in your identity. If this is an issue, and you refuse to prove who you are- you will be removed from the board. In "My Control", you choose your profile on the left. Please do not misunderstand this, as many do- the first half of the page, where it says *Required* are items you entered when you registered. These ARE NOT viewable to the board membership- only to administrators- we used it to approve your application. Any images you post here should be PG-13 and should not contain anything that may be considered tasteless or offensive to other members. If you have something questionable and you are unsure about, please contact a moderator BEFORE YOU POST IT for permission. First time offenses can be issued a warning if they are sincerely accidental or if the offenses are minor, but any repeat offenses or rule breaking deemed extreme by the staff will result in immediate restriction or banning of your membership. This is a support site and everything else is peripheral.
